When it comes to vision correction, there is no such thing as “one procedure fits all.” By examining your eye health, eye characteristics and overall health, we can determine which procedure will provide the safest and most effective results. At Boling Vision Center, we offer the following options.
LASIK For patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Lasers are used to alter the shape of the cornea to correct the specific refractive error that makes vision blurry. Patients with thin corneas may not be suitable candidates.
PRK For patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism who have thin corneas. Vision results will be similar to LASIK but the recovery process may be longer because there is no corneal flap created during the first step in the procedure.
KAMRA™ For patients who require reading glasses to see up-close objects. A thin disk is placed in the non-dominant eye to allow patients to see clearly at all distances. This may reduce the need for reading glasses.
Visian™ Visian® ICL™ (Implantable Collamer Lens)
For patients age 21 to 45 with nearsightedness. The lens is inserted through a tiny opening on the cornea and placed in front of the eye’s natural lens, behind the iris. You will not feel the lens and it requires no special care. This ICL can greatly improve vision.
Clear Lens Exchange (also called refractive lens exchange, lens replacement surgery or clear lens extraction) For patients over age 40 with presbyopia and high degrees of farsightedness. The natural lens of your eye is removed and replaced with a permanent clear intraocular lens (IOL) to attain sharper focus and reduce your need for glasses or reading glasses. Depending on your vision challenges, there are different IOLs available to help you achieve your best vision. This procedure is similar to cataract surgery.
