Dr. Megan Heil is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease, cataract surgery, aesthetic procedures and LASIK.
Education/Certifications
Dr. Heil graduated from Florida State University with her Bachelors in Exercise Physiology in 2005 and then graduated with honors from Kansas City University Of Medicine and Biosciences in 2009. She went on to complete her internship and ophthalmology residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident of the ophthalmology program through 2013.
Community/Professional Engagement
Dr. Heil is a proud member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). She is also a proud volunteer for Operation Sight. Operation Sight is the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation’s U.S-based charitable cataract surgery program. The program matches eligible cataract patients with volunteer surgeons who are members of the Operation Sight Network. ASCRS empowers surgeons to improve the vision, outcomes, and quality of life for their patients through innovative approaches to Education, Advocacy, and Philanthropy. Dr. Heil is changing our guests lives through sight!
Dr. Heil is also a volunteer for the Kindness to Prevent Blindness (KTPB) mobile unit. In collaboration with the Elkhart Education Foundation, the KTPB eye care mobile unit was designed with the goal to provide free vision screenings, exams, and glasses to all 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grade students in Elkhart and St. Joseph County Schools—as is required by the Indiana Department of Education. This nonprofit initiative, funded by tax-deductible donations and in-kind community support, is focused on ensuring school children have the vision care they need to be successful in school.
Interesting Fact
Dr. Heil moved to the area with her husband, Ross, who serves as a gastroenterologist at IU Health Goshen, along with their three young sons.

When not caring for her patients or serving as a volunteer, Dr. Heil enjoys cycling and spending time with her family.
