Preparing for EVO ICL Procedure
Before your EVO ICL procedure, our team invites you to a complimentary consultation. Following your consultation, we will then schedule you for a comprehensive examination to ensure you are an ideal candidate for the EVO ICL procedure. This consultation and comprehensive examination will also provide opportunities for you to ask questions, share your vision goals, and learn more about your vision correction options.
Did you know that your tear film, the liquid layer on the surface of your eye, is responsible for over 80% of your vision clarity once the natural lens is removed? To ensure the best visual outcome after surgery, our team will prepare your tear film by recommending over-the-counter artificial tears, such as Optase Intense Drops, and an Optase Mask, which can be conveniently purchased in our offices. Other options may include Refresh Tears, Thera Tears, and Systane Lubricate Eye Drops. It is crucial to use artificial tears four times a day, and the Optase mask once a day, prior to surgery. We will also recommend continued use of both the artificial tears and the Optase Mask after surgery to maximize your vision potential.
What to Expect
On the day of your EVO ICL procedure, you can expect the following steps:
1. Conscious sedation is used with an IV to keep you relaxed while your experienced surgeon cares for your eyes.
2. Anesthetic drops are applied to numb the eye, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure.
3. A tiny incision is made in your cornea, the clear front part of the eye.
4. The flexible implantable collamer lens will then be inserted through the tiny incision and carefully positioned behind the iris (the colored part of the eye) and in front of the natural crystalline lens in your eye.
5. The surgery usually takes less than 10 minutes per eye.
6. No stitches are required as the wound is created to be self-sealing.
7. Most patients report little to no pain during or after surgery and can return to work within the next day or two.
At Boling Vision Center, EVO ICL is performed on one eye at a time. If both eyes are scheduled for EVO ICL surgery, we typically complete both eyes on the same day; however, this may vary depending on the individual circumstances of each patient.
