  • Bladeless technology makes it possible to treat individuals who were previously dismissed as non candidates due to thin corneas.

    • Studies have shown the incidence of dry eye symptoms may be reduced with Bladeless LASIK.
    • With Bladeless LASIK and its customization components, surgeons can treat a wider variety of patients, including patients with thin corneas.
    • Bladeless LASIK has been used in more than one million LASIK procedures worldwide.

How the IntraLase (Bladeless) Method Works at Boling Vision Center

IntraLase technology is a customizable solution to program the dimensions of your flap based on what’s best for your eye. An IntraLase laser then creates your flap from below the surface of the cornea – without ever cutting it. How is this possible?

    • Extremely fast pulses of light position microscopic bubbles at a precise depth determined by Dr. Boling.
    • The light from the laser harmlessly passes through the cornea. The laser then creates rows of these bubbles just beneath your corneal surface as it moves back and forth across your eye in a uniform plane.
    • Next, the IntraLase laser stacks a series of bubbles around your corneal diameter to create the edges of your flap. These bubbles are then stacked at an angle that is determined by Dr. Boling and is customized to the way your eye is shaped.
    • This process only takes about 35 seconds from beginning to end, and it is comfortable& quiet.
    • Dr. Boling will then gently lift the flap to allow for the 2nd phase of the LASIK treatment. After the procedure is complete, the flap easily “bonds” back into position and immediately begins to heal.
